The contractor for this project is TSL Mechanical. They are currently hiring for various positions.

As General Manager, I’ve lead many improvements including modernizing policies and procedures, strengthening training and onboarding processes, enhancing employee engagement and improving customer service standards. Kahkewistahaw Bison Project

Kahkewistahâw  Lands & Resources and Kahkewistahaw Economic Management Corporation are combining energies to work on a great project that would return bison to Kahkewistahâw First Nation. Denise Peter, Nathan Bellegarde, and Candace Wasacase are working with Nature Conservatory of Canada and community visits are underway. This supports the work of the Nation in its cultural, economic, and food sovereignty goals.

Kahkewistahaw First Nation Screening Panel

Please be advised that the terms of 1 On

Reserve Trustee expires on March 6, 2026.

Under the section 12.04 of the

Kahkewistahaw 1907 Trust Agreement, the

Chief & Council is to establish a screening

panel to select a replacement.

SCREENING PANEL

for Kahkewistahaw 1907 Specific Claims Trust

We are asking for applications for the screening panel. Once

established the screening panel will make a

recommendation to Council on the replacement.

The screening panel consists of:

1 member who resides on reserve

1 member who resides off reserve

1 elder and;

1 Non-Band Member

Kahkewistahaw Economic Management Corporation (KEMC)

New Co-Chair of Board of Directors

It is with excitement that the Kahkewistahâw Economic Management Corporation (KEMC) announces the appointment of Charlie Clark, member of its Board of Directors, as its new Co-Chair, joining Kahkewistahâw First Nation Chief Evan Taypotat.

Mr. Clark served two terms as Saskatoon’s Mayor, from 2016-2024. Clark was first elected to Saskatoon City Council in 2006, representing Ward 6. Clark has a demonstrated track record of leadership that enables new ways forward in terms of reconciliation and treaty relationships and building partnerships with communities.

Clark is now working on a variety of projects as an advisor including with the Saskatchewan Office of the Treaty Commission and the Strong Cities Network. He holds bachelor’s degrees in conflict resolution and education and a master’s degree in environmental studies. He has expertise in the areas of mediation and community economic development.

“I am excited to join the KEMC Board. Our shared future depends on respectful and successful economic and community partnerships. Chief Taypotat, his team, and my KEMC Board colleagues have a strong vision for the Kahkewistahaw First Nation that can benefit future generations across the Province, and I will do my best to support this in a good way.” KEMC’s Co-Chairs and Board of Directors provide management and operational guidance to its subsidiary companies and limited partnerships. The KEMC is governed by the principles of professionalism, autonomy, and financial and economic responsibility. Its goal is to provide a safe, sound and secure path towards economic prosperity.

Kahkewistahâw Economic Management Corporation appoints new CEO

We are excited to announce that Candace Wasacase, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kahkewistahâw Economic Management Corporation (KEMC).

Candace, a proud member of Kahkewistahâw First Nation, Treaty 4, and the daughter of George and Gayle Wasacase. Growing up on the Nation, Candace has seen the growth of the community and is honoured to serve in the role.

“My goal is to develop a local economy that builds on community strengths and collaborates with all KFN departments and members. Both our local and urban lands offer opportunities to grow the Nation’s economy.”

Candace specializes in economic development, community relations and cultural space development. She was recognized by the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects and Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects as an Honorary member in 2023 for her lead role in the multi-million-dollar revitalization of Wanuskewin Heritage Park, the creation of the USask Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre, and her understanding and commitment to upholding the spiritual values held by the land and honoring the spirit of reconciliation. She is an accomplished facilitator and entrepreneur with academic qualifications from the University of Saskatchewan’s Edwards School of Business and College of Arts and Science.

She formerly served as Fulbright Canada’s Director of the Honoring Nations Canada Program, and Senior Director of Indigenous Engagement at the University of Saskatchewan. She also held roles within the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, the Saskatoon Tribal Council, and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies.

Previously serving as KEMC’s Business Development Officer, Chief Operations Officer, and Interim Chief Executive Officer, Candace’s leadership, experience, and vision will focus on driving new opportunities and fostering growth for KEMC and the communities we serve. Please join us in giving Candace a warm welcome as our new CEO.
