Reserve Trustee expires on March 6, 2026.

Under the section 12.04 of the

Kahkewistahaw 1907 Trust Agreement, the

Chief & Council is to establish a screening

panel to select a replacement.

SCREENING PANEL

for Kahkewistahaw 1907 Specific Claims Trust

We are asking for applications for the screening panel. Once

established the screening panel will make a

recommendation to Council on the replacement.

The screening panel consists of:

1 member who resides on reserve

1 member who resides off reserve

1 elder and;

1 Non-Band Member

Kahkewistahâw Economic Management Corporation appoints new CEO

We are excited to announce that Candace Wasacase, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kahkewistahâw Economic Management Corporation (KEMC).

Candace, a proud member of Kahkewistahâw First Nation, Treaty 4, and the daughter of George and Gayle Wasacase. Growing up on the Nation, Candace has seen the growth of the community and is honoured to serve in the role.

“My goal is to develop a local economy that builds on community strengths and collaborates with all KFN departments and members. Both our local and urban lands offer opportunities to grow the Nation’s economy.”

Candace specializes in economic development, community relations and cultural space development. She was recognized by the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects and Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects as an Honorary member in 2023 for her lead role in the multi-million-dollar revitalization of Wanuskewin Heritage Park, the creation of the USask Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre, and her understanding and commitment to upholding the spiritual values held by the land and honoring the spirit of reconciliation. She is an accomplished facilitator and entrepreneur with academic qualifications from the University of Saskatchewan’s Edwards School of Business and College of Arts and Science.

She formerly served as Fulbright Canada’s Director of the Honoring Nations Canada Program, and Senior Director of Indigenous Engagement at the University of Saskatchewan. She also held roles within the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, the Saskatoon Tribal Council, and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies.

Previously serving as KEMC’s Business Development Officer, Chief Operations Officer, and Interim Chief Executive Officer, Candace’s leadership, experience, and vision will focus on driving new opportunities and fostering growth for KEMC and the communities we serve. Attached is a poster featuring the only car dealership salesperson who reached out to KFN—Brett, a Whitewood local who now works at Regina Honda.


Brett has committed to providing exceptional service to any KFN member looking to purchase a vehicle. He understands that each adult member will be receiving a PCD and has promised a respectful, no-pressure approach. He’s seen how some salespeople can be pushy or dishonest and has assured us that will not be the case with him or his colleagues.


I personally met with Brett over coffee last week and made it clear that if we were to promote him, he must guarantee a positive and fair experience for our members. He agreed and has given us his word that all KFN members will be treated with dignity and respect at Regina Honda.


As a gesture of appreciation, any KFN member who purchases a vehicle from Brett will receive a $500 gift card. This is part of his commitment to going the extra mile for our people.

Kahkewistahaw First Nation re: People who have been banned by the First Nation

Good morning Kahkewistahaw,

The following individuals are banned from Kahkewistahaw First Nation. They have been identified as individuals who have sold drugs, or are selling to our people on our homelands—this is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

If you see any of the following individuals on Kahkewistahaw lands, please contact our Community Safety Patrol or the RCMP using the numbers provided below.

  • Tatiana Lavallee
  • Dominique George
  • Dillion Tanner
  • Andy Tanner
  • Anthony Kinistino

These individuals are welcome to reach out to me directly if they are truly ready to turn their lives around. I firmly believe in second chances and restorative justice—but real change must come from within. I sincerely hope that some have already made that change and are now living a more honest and healthy life. If so, we want to hear from them to get their name off the banned list.

Otherwise, they are not welcome on Kahkewistahaw First Nation.

Finally, if you have any information about individuals who are planning to or currently selling drugs on our lands, please contact any Council member or myself. Your identity will remain anonymous, and the information will be shared with law enforcement. We will continue to remove drug dealers from our community.
