The Community Sports Coach Assistant will provide assistance to the Community Sports Coach
Coordinator, they will assist with sports activities for the youth at Chief Kahkewistahaw Community School (CKCS) as well as the community of Kahkewistahaw First Nation. They will be organized, highly motivated, and focused on providing members with satisfactory and enjoyable programming. They will also help organize teams, help with programs, supervise athletes and adhere to the policies as per the Kahkewistahaw Sports & Recreation Policy. This position is intended to be a flexible schedule as evenings, and weekends will be required for certain programming.


1.Plan, program and execute recreational and culture programming for Kahkewistahaw First Nation members, such as youth programs, community events, holiday youth and adult activities, little league/beginner sports, cultural activities and more.
2.  Supervise field trips, provide transportation for programming, and ensure safety of all participants.
3.  Maintain a record of students involved, incident reports and statistics as well as any other documentation needed for any recreational programming/events.
4.  Coordinates scheduling of staff, parents and volunteers for special events and activities for yearround and seasonal recreational programs.
5.  Complete and submit all Sports, Culture & Recreation Assistance forms to Finance and keep a copy on file.
6.  Work with members of Kahkewistahaw, CKCS, recreation committee to prepare a plan for the development of community recreation activities and programs. As well as Collaborate with other departments to provide combined programming.
7.  Manages the collection and accounting of money for team registrations; Submit, purchase orders, requisitions; prepares budget recommendations for the allocation of personnel, equipment, and supplies for sports and recreation programs.
8.  Track the usage and keep documentation of the recreation trailer as per the Sports & Recreation Policy.
9.  Create monthly Sport and Recreation calendars and posters.
10.  Assist the Community Sports Coach Coordinator with transporting athletes/individuals to certain events/programs.
11.  Assisting with organizing Minor Hockey.
12.  Comply with all Kahkewistahaw First Nation Policies and procedures.
13.  Any other duties as assigned by the Community Sports Coach Coordinator and Director of Operations.

1.  Poses a CPR/First Aid Certificate
2.  Must be able to communicate well. Can lead both large and small groups of people and need to give clean instructions, motivate participants, lead activities for people of all ages and maintain order and safety.
3.  Must be flexible when planning activities, must be able to adapt plans to suit changing environmental conditions and each client needs.
4.  Recreation workers will need to be physically fit, as the job may require a considerable amount of movement because they often demonstrate activities while explaining them.
5.  Strong problem-solving skills, written skills able to communicate effectively in writing.
6.  Work independently in a timely and efficient manner.
7.  Be Punctual, Dependable, and reliable.
8.  Possess the ability to maintain the management of Confidential Information and prepared to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
9.  Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and be able to take direction.
10.  Available to take programs and additional training if needed.
11.  Provide any additional administrative tasks/duties as assigned by the Community Sports Coach Coordinator and Director of Operations.
12.  Possess a Valid Class 5 Drivers License and Reliable vehicle.
13.  Submit current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, and Drug screening results within thirty (30) days of commencing employment.
14.  Three (3) current written references with an updated resume and cover letter.
