Have a Safe and Happy Holiday

Greetings Kahkewistahaw membership,

I want to take this time to wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday. Understandably this year will be different than past seasons. COVID-19 has made us all plan and prepare differently, but I hope that your hearts and tables are full and that there are presents under your trees. I also want to extend my condolences to those families that have lost loved ones this past year; holidays are tough – stay strong. Losing a loved one is difficult, but together your family can and will get through.

I recently went through my own battle with COVID-19. I first felt like I had the flu, followed by the chills and the symptoms progressed from there. I isolated for 14 days and treated it with western and traditional medicines. I want to thank you all for the messages and prayers as it were those that pulled me through! Today I am 100% and even down some weight! If anyone wishes to chat about my experience, please drop me a line.

I am looking forward to 2021 and getting back to as normal as possible. Our ancestors fought too hard for us to just give up on our ways and traditions.

As you gather this holiday season, keep your circle small and use technology to send those wishes. Soon we will be back together, just not yet.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Chief Evan B.G. Taypotat
