POSITION: PROPERTY MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

DEPARTMENT: INFRASTRUCTURE & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

CLASSIFICATION: PERMANENT FULL TIME

SALARY: BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Property Manager, and accountable to the Chief and Council and more specifically the Housing Portfolio Councilor, the Property Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operations of key housing services provided by Kahkewistahaw First Nation. With approximately 200 housing units located on the First Nation, this position is responsible for executing all renovations to ensure the community’s housing is up to code for the entire Kahkewistahaw housing portfolio while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, policies, and procedures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Ensure compliance with the Federal On-Reserve Housing Policy, National Building Code of Canada, Safety Standards and Procedures.
 Responsible for executing all renovation, maintenance and new construction projects.
 Laison with the Property Manager on required maintenance and repair requests.
 Assist and carry out unit condition assessments, complete reports for further actions by the Property Manager.
 Ensure that the expenditure of each individual unit/departments are properly coded and charged to the appropriate approved project cost/budget (RRAP, Band, CMHC, HASI, etc.)
 Develop and maintain a schedule of preventive home maintenance task (pump outs, furnace cleaning etc.)  Assist with the planning, preparing, and monitoring of the Housing Budgets for the new fiscal year.
 Consult with Property Manager and the Human Resource Department when requesting casual or new contract employees.
 Any other duties as assigned by the Property Manager or Director of Operations.

EVALUATION PERIOD:

A probationary evaluation after three (3) months and annually upon anniversary date.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 Possess a minimum Grade 12 diploma.
 Minimum of three (3) years related experience in the Construction Industry or work-related field.
 Have excellent organizational skills; Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, possess excellent time management skills, be able to take direction and work with minimum supervision.
 Possess considerable knowledge of the Federal On-Reserve Housing Policy, National Building Code of Canada, Safety Standards and Procedures.

 Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, possess excellent time management skills, take direction and work with minimal supervision.
 Strong interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving skills and must be resourceful and creative.
 Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with contractors, tenants, and the general public and to promote a positive team environment.

EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

Possess a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
 Must provide three (3) current written references along with resume.
 Submit a current (within last 30 days) criminal record check (CPIC).
 Must provide a drug screening test within thirty (30) days if selected for the position.
