POSITION: FIRST NATION REPRESENTATIVE
DEPARTMENT: FAMILY WELLNESS
WAGE RANGE: BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS
CLASSIFICATION: PERMANENT, FULL-TIME
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Kahkewistahaw First Nation is developing their Family Wellness Department. The Family Wellness First Nations Representative will support families and/or individuals mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. The First Nation Representative will carry out their duties under the direct guidance and supervision of the Director of Family Wellness, ensuring alignment with the departments goals and supporting the overall mission to enhance family and community well-being.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Will work directly with the Family Wellness Team to support families in legal and prevention situations.
- Serve as a liaison between Kahkewistahaw First Nation and external organizations, agencies, and government bodies.
- Advocate for the families and/or individuals involved in court proceedings.
- Represent Kahkewistahaw First Nation at community meetings, forums, and negotiations with external organizations and government agencies.
- Promote family and/or individual participation in programs and services.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that address community needs.
- Coordinate with various departments and agencies to ensure programs are culturally relevant and effective.
- Maintain records of all activities, meetings, and consultations.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related Human Services Field.
- Work experience in a related field of two (2) years would be a definite asset.
- Must have knowledge with provincial and interprovincial ministries and child welfare protocols.
- Knowledge of alternative healing methods and holistic support services.
- Knowledge of First Nations Child and Family Services guidelines.
- Knowledge of Kahkewistahaw First Nation culture, traditions and language would be an asset.
- Be punctual, dependable, and ensure that confidentiality matters remain confidential.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
- Must submit an application that includes an updated Cover Letter, Resume and three (3) references.
