POSITIONS: TWO (2) YOUTH SUPPORT WORKERS

WAGE RANGE: BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS
CLASSIFICATION: SHORT TERM – THREE (3) MONTHS
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Kahkewistahaw First Nation is seeking compassionate and dedicated Youth Support Workers to assist young individuals facing various challenges. The Youth Support Workers will be responsible for providing emotional support, guidance and practical assistance to promote the well-being and development of youth in the community. The ideal candidates will work along-side Kahkewistahaw First Nation Addictions Specialist and under the Director of Health.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- A diploma or degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with young people is essential. Experience in youth support, counseling, or education is highly valued.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with youth, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to remain patient and empathetic while addressing the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Build positive relationships with young people to create a safe and trusting environment.
- Organizational skills for managing case files and documenting progress.
- Knowledge of youth issues, including mental health challenges and social dynamics.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a team member.
- Possess a Driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
