POSITION:  MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION DRIVER

DEPARTMENT:  HEALTH

CLASSIFICATION:  PERMANENT FULL-TIME

WAGE:  BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Medical Transportation Driver will provide required transportation services to the nearest destination for medical appointments for on reserve First Nation residents, regardless of there Band affiliation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Pick up approved clients at designated locations and transport them to their required medical facility for appointments, treatments, and follow-ups on time.
2.  Monitor the health and general wellbeing of clients during transportation.
3.  Pre-screen clients and any escorts for COVID-19 symptoms or illness over the phone, and particularly when transporting clients from multiple households.
4.  Sanitize all high touch surfaces before and after each trip and have all occupants of the vehicle preform proper hand hygiene immediately before and after entering the vehicle.
5.  To confirm and notify clients of their scheduled doctor/specialist appointments.
6.  Arrange regular repairs, general maintenance, and follow the cleaning check list provided in the vehicle.
7.  Maintain and submit weekly accurate, up to date records detailing fuel purchases, incident reports, and other records that may be requested by the Medical Transportation Clerk.
8.  Deal with the members in a cordial manner and respect the confidentiality of all clients and staff.
9.  Ensure a high level of safety and comfort during transport.
10.  Any other duties as directed by Immediate Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Possess a grade 12 or equivalent.
2.  Able to work long and often irregular hours.
3.  Must have strong organizational skills and work independently with minimum supervision.
4.  Be punctual, dependable, reliable, and committed to the position.
5.  Ensure that confidential matters remain confidential and be willing to sign an oath of confidentiality and oath of employment.
6. *Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
7.  Possess a clean drivers abstract.
8.  Submit a drug screen and current criminal records check within thirty days of commencing employment.
9.  Must provide three (3) references along with an updated resume.
